Just published today at Energy Tribune my article summing up David Cameron's disastrous mistake installing an anti-nuclear, green zealot, Lib Dim (sic) as Energy secretary. Go here for full text.

Here's a taster:

What was David Cameron thinking? Sure, he had to cut some unpalatable deals with the Liberal Democrats to get into power. Sure, that would mean living with a few uncomfortable appointments to his Cabinet team. But in handing Chris Huhne the Energy and Climate Secretariat, Cameron not only shocked UK energy insiders – but the appointment has almost certainly sown the toxic seeds of disunity for the “brokeback coalition.”

Chris Huhne is on a mission to stop all nuclear development. While he and his anti-nuclear Liberal Democrats signed on to a deal by which they agreed to abstain from any Parliamentary vote to approve nuclear legislation, Huhne knew there would be more than one way to undermine a pro-nuclear policy. For a start, he could announce there was “no money” for state subsidies of the proposed new generation of nuclear power stations. Next, he could gamble Britain’s energy future on the meagre energy return offered by wind power. By the end of July, just two months into office, Huhne had done both.

Well, I am no "Green" at all... but I believe "safe Nuclear" is a lie...and the costs we are presented almost never include the protection of Nuclear Wastes in the next -say- one million years. Do we think the Nuclear Sign will keep the next Culture in 2000 years from entering our Waste Deposits? How Naive.

But it seems noone earning money with Nuclear cares. I understand that. Oh, and I used to be very Pro-Nuclear.

No, Only someone very egoistic can really be in favour of Nuclear Energy.

Well, and what about the facts...there will be Wind and Solar etc. Power when our Nuclear Fuels are long gone (2,3 decades?)

No, I really believe the Climate Change Agenda is wrong, but to cry "continue Nuclear" is very ...well, shortsighted.

The British Author Chris Goodall proved in his remarkable book "Ten Technologies To Fix Energy and Climate" that
even the UK can live very well on Renewable Energies.

The question is if you want them?

So, I readily agree the Climate Change Zealots have a big (money) agenda - though I have nothing against clean air -

but if you really want to make Nuclear the No. One energy and our future, you cannot have children and have your own agenda...

I wonder if this will be published and will therefore publish my counterplea at my Solar Energy Blog linking here ... hope you are ok with that
